As well as providing items such as seeds and tools and livestock we also train farmers to help improve their local farming techniques, we bring communities together to share farming knowledge and we also help isolated communities improve access to markets with better roads or bridges.
What your fundraising can buy:
£1.80 buys a chicken that can lay 200 nutritious eggs a year, enough for a family to get some tasty eggs to eat with plenty left over to sell at market.
£5 could buy 5kg of sorghum seeds, a traditional crop of some African countries. 1kg of sorghum seed is sufficient for one harvest.
£12 buys a kit of essential tools like spades and hoes.
£15 could buy 50 fruit trees for planting in a family’s farm providing vital income and food, and protecting the soil from erosion.
£25 could buy a goat that provides gallons of nutritious milk and excellent manure. And when they breed, the kids are given to another family so they can benefit too.
£35 could help buy materials to construct one improved bee hive to increase honey production and household incomes for beekeepers.
£71 buys a water pump so that women and children no longer have to walk miles and miles to collect water from swamps and dangerous rivers.
£305 buys a buffalo to help with ploughing so that farmers can grow more food.
